Case Study:

Mel Bartlett has been a Branch Manager for HSS Hire for 15 years. Leading the team at our high performing branch in Wycombe, Mel has two children – Rhys (11) and Brooke (7)

Both Rhys and Brooke were born six weeks premature and subsequently on the two occasions that Mel returned to work after maternity leave, she required time and flexibility to attend frequent medical appointments.
In particular, Rhys suffered breathing difficulties and required regular check-ups at the doctors and hospital during working hours which continued throughout Rhys’ early years at school.

“HSS Hire was always very accommodating, allowing me to go to all of Rhys’ necessary appointments without ever penalising me or causing a fuss. Whilst it seems a distant memory now I remember at times feeling awful at how much time I need to take off,” said Mel.

“Thankfully Rhys has now grown out of those health difficulties however being a full-time working mum with two young children at school I still need to go to school assemblies , doctors’ appointments, dentist appointments, nativity plays and sport days all usually within working hours.

“I recognise that a lot of my working friends are not so lucky and that their employers are not so accommodating. I really appreciate the flexibility and understanding from HSS Hire. It’s one of the reasons I have stayed at HSS for as long as I have”

We are delighted to offer Mel the time and flexibility she needs and we realise the benefit this approach has not just to Mel, but to our company. Mel operates one of the highest performing branches in our network and has received multiple awards as part of our internal excellence rewards and recognition programme.
