We are performance driven, through the lens of humanity
By bringing people together over coffee, Starbucks has become one of the world’s best-known and best-loved companies. We purchase, roast and serve award-winning coffee. We also offer Italian-style espresso beverages, cold blended beverages, delicious food, premium teas and selected compact discs through our retail stores. Working at Starbucks is a lot like working with your friends.
When you work here, you’re not an “employee” – we call ourselves “partners” because we believe in shared common goals and mutual success. We’re dedicated to serving ethically sourced coffee, caring for the environment and giving back to the communities where we do business.
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee but also connection. We’re a neighbourhood gathering place, a part of your daily routine. Get to know us and you’ll see: we are so much more than what we brew. We call our employees partners because we are all partners in shared success. We make sure everything we do is through the lens of humanity—from our commitment to the highest-quality coffee in the world, to the way we engage with our customers and communities to do business responsibly.
Working in a Starbucks store is different from any other job. You are creating genuine moments of connection with our customers and making a difference to their day. You will handcraft delicious beverages, and build relationships with our customers (getting to know their favourite drink), and with your fellow partners. We offer great benefits and an environment that is truly welcoming. You will also have opportunities to volunteer in the community, to help out and give back to the neighborhoods we are a part of.
All of our retail store partners begin their careers with us by undertaking an introductory training programme based upon their role. Our store training programmes are led by our amazing in store trainers and coaches and are designed to immerse you in the Starbucks culture and set you up for success. These training programmes are delivered in our stores and provide partners with the opportunity to learn on the job supported by their manager.
Baristas really are the face of Starbucks. They are an important part of our customers’ day, and experts in handcrafting delicious, perfect beverages. Connecting and creating the moments that make a difference in each person’s day.
They help direct work on the floor. They run shifts, lead the store team and make decisions that impact store operations. This role is a great way to develop leadership skills and expand your responsibility. They also help create great experiences for partners and customers alike.
Assistant store managers
They inspire our customers while developing their management skills on their journey to running a great store on their own. You will support the managing of a P&L, building schedules, leading a team and nurturing talent — allowing those partners to become the very best they can.
They run their store as if it belongs to them – from managing daily operations to taking responsibility for financial results. This is not a back room management position, but focusses on the front line connecting with customers and partners. The role provides the opportunity to develop your own team, hiring and welcoming new partners and future leaders for your store
With our partners, our coffee and our customers at our core, we live these values:
We’re committed to upholding a culture where inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility are valued and respected. Your entire experience—starting with your application—is designed to be the beginning of an inspirational journey, where you are treated warmly and with transparency, dignity and respect.
We actively hire individuals with disabilities and provide reasonable accommodations and assistive technologies that enable people to do their jobs. Starbucks is committed to offering reasonable accommodation for job applicants with disabilities.
Our many Partner Networks (also referred to as employee resource groups) work to create an inclusive environment across Starbucks representing the broad spectrum of our partner backgrounds.
At the heart of our business, we seek to inspire and nurture the human spirit – understanding that each person brings a distinct life experience to the table. Our partners are diverse not only in gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, religion and age, but also in cultural backgrounds, life experiences, thoughts and ideas.
Embracing diversity only enhances our work culture, it also drives our business success. It is the inclusion of these diverse experiences and perspectives that create a culture of empowerment, one that fosters innovation, economic growth and new ideas.
