Global financial services experts Macquarie Group have become the latest company to launch a Returner programme for people who have taken a career break.
The 12-week programme is full time and successful candidates are matched to business groups based on their skills and experience. They are given a mentor and buddy from within their business group and a second mentor from Macquarie’s gender balance network, Balance at Macquarie. They also benefit from group coaching from coaching experts Women Returners throughout the programme. Support and emergency child or elder care help is provided by My Family Care and candidates get exposure to senior leaders through networking opportunities. There is the chance of a permanent position at Macquarie at the end of the 12 weeks.
Applications are open from 4 April to 31 May. To be eligible, applicants have to have taken a voluntary career break of at least two years; have previous work experience with the relevant skills or transferable skills for the business groups available; have excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills; and be highly motivated and able to contribute to the core activities of the business group they join.
Macquarie Group has had a strong push on diversity in recent years. Its Balance at Macquarie network aims to reflect the importance of ensuring everyone in the bank understands the business imperative for gender diversity and is, says Champion of Change Arun Assumall, “engaged in creating a company which attracts, retains and develops the very best talent irrespective of gender”.
