PM to appoint special adviser on women

David Cameron is reported to be planning to appoint a female special adviser to ensure the Coalition Government's policies do not have an adverse impact on women.

David Cameron is reported to be planning to appoint a female special adviser to ensure the Coalition Government's policies do not have an adverse impact on women.

The Prime Minister is also to take more advice from the Conservative Women's Forum, an informal group of male and female MPs.

Baroness Jenkin of Kennington, founder of Women2Win, which campaigns for more women Conservative MPs, said the Prime Minister was looking to focus on more women-friendly policies and to ensure "that every policy is looked at through women's eyes".

The move comes days before a big protest by the Fawcett Society on Saturday about the impact of public sector cuts on women and after reports in the news that the Conservative party is losing a lot of female votes.
