Redundancy and taking on new work

My company is in administration and I work part time. Can I take on freelance work and another part-time job (providing it is done in the days I am not in this job) or would that affect my redundancy pay?

letter cubes spelling 'redundancy'

Your entitlement to any statutory redundancy payment would be unaffected if you were to take up other employment on your non-working days.

Any entitlement you may have to any additional company severance payments may be affected by you taking on alternative work and you should check the terms of your employer’s redundancy policy and your contract of employment.

It might also be worth getting clarity from your employer as to whether they would treat any additional employment as a matter which could justify them terminating your contract for a reason other than redundancy.
