A survey by Investors in People has found that more than half of people say they will be looking for a new job in 2020 and 24% are unhappy at work, a 10% increase on last year’s survey.

The survey also shows a significant increase in the number of people who are looking for flexible working in a new job – up from 17% in 2019 to 29% in 2020. Work life balance is the most popular of three qualities people say they were looking for in a new job.

Eighty per cent of women questioned said they had felt stressed at work in the last year. This compares to 69% of men. Those aged 25 to 34 were the most likely to say they had been stressed at work in the last year – 80% said so. This compares to 66% of people aged 55 and over.

On average 77% of people said they were stressed at work and 64% said they had lost sleep over work in the last year. A fifth of people feel that work is negatively impacting their health.
