‘Take the kids to work’ to beat strike, says PM

Employers should let staff affected by next week’s school closures bring their children to work if it is safe, the Prime Minister told Parliament yesterday.

Employers should let staff affected by next week’s school closures bring their children to work if it is safe, the Prime Minister told Parliament yesterday.

David Cameron was responding to a question by Louise Mensch about the public sector strikes planned for 30 November during yesterday’s Prime Ministers Questions.

Thousands of schools could be affected by the strike over changes to public sector pensions.

TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said: "Dedicated public sector workers take no pleasure in taking action next week but the blame for this strike lies squarely with the government for failing to engage in serious talks until unions decided on a day of action."
