    Hi,

I'm currently on maternity leave. When I left for maternity,my old boss verbally told me that her and the CEO had agreed to promote me on my return.

Instead, this boss has left and nothing is written down. The CEO says he can't remember the conversation.

The new boss has restructured the department, and although I have the same title and salary, I no longer have budget control, a direct report or management of the marketing for a particular business unit. I am just doing tactical marketing. Before I left, we promoted my direct report to the same job title as me, which muddies the water a bit. This is because the assumption is that I would be doing a different managerial role.

What are my rights as I feel I have been demoted?

    Thanks.
