We believe that a diverse workforce doesn’t just better represent our customers. It helps us stay creative and innovative. That’s why we’ve invested heavily in our working environment to make sure it’s one of the most progressive around.
Innovation is a way of life here at Vodafone. We were behind the first ever mobile phone call in 1985 — and we’ve been pushing the boundaries of technology ever since. Not only were we the first to make a 3G voice call, we were the first to explore the full potential of 4G by offering content services such as Netflix, Spotify and Sky Sports.
But just as we’re proud about our past, we’re even more excited about our future. We invested more than £1 billion on our network and services across the country in 2014 (and we’re planning to invest a similar amount in 2015).
So what does this all mean for you?
Simply, that you’ll have the opportunity to work on truly leading-edge projects with Vodafone. Your work will really matter too. To give just one example: 77% of the UK’s emergency services use our network and technologies to stay connected and deliver the best possible response in critical situations.
Join us, and you’ll discover our environment is equally innovative. Flexibility is the norm at Vodafone — whether you’re working at our Newbury HQ or one of our other major technology hubs across the country.
It’s all part of our Better Ways of Working. For example, we’ll go out of our way to tailor your hours around your existing life commitments. And if your role doesn’t require you to be onsite, we’ll give you the equipment and opportunity to work flexibly and remotely where possible.
Our Newbury HQ is a great example of our Better Ways of Working. Nobody, not even our CEO, has an office. We work in ‘home zones’ and we’re free to take our laptop to any one of a number of work spaces, or even to the numerous onsite coffee shops or surrounding landscaped parkland if we want to. And when it suits the business, we work remotely.
We believe in rewarding the best with the best. We offer a competitive salary, generous bonus and extensive benefits to create a fantastic all round remuneration package. You’re an asset we want to develop. So you can rest assured you’ll be able to progress with a structured development plan that’s tailored to you.
Given the size and scale of our operation, we need a whole range of talents. Here are just a few of the areas you can join us in:
Architecture – delivering and assuring the technical artefacts for projects, as well as managing the delivery of solution build and the component level testing and integration. You’ll work on projects like creating specialised SIM cards and networks that work seamlessly with connected cars to create smarter roads.
Network engineering – focusing your energies on maintaining and developing our network: the backbone of our business. You’ll join the team responsible for designing, optimising, implementing and supporting the infrastructure that keeps our customers confidently connected.
Project management – applying your talents to the full lifecycle on a huge range of projects for both Vodafone and our enterprise customers. You could find yourself working on anything from a tablet based system that helps both private and public sectors to streamline data collection, to delivering Spotify on 4G to our customers.
Service operations and delivery – working closely with clients to identify problems and deliver solutions. You might be handling major incidents, or dealing with minor interruptions, but you’ll always need a strong customer focus.
