Vote for your Franchisee of the Year

The Franchisee of the Year Award is the only award in the Workingmums.co.uk’s Top Franchise Awards which is voted for by the public.

It puts the spotlight on women who have shown particular initiative or overcome specific challenges and gone on to run successful flexible businesses and, in many cases, to provide flexible jobs for others.

Many have previously had successful careers – as teachers, in the NHS, in the corporate world and elsewhere – and have used their skills to take on new challenges as entrepreneurs, but within the tried and tested business model franchises offer.

Will be announced at an online ceremony in May and the winners will feature in Workingmums.co.uk’s Best Practice Report in a bid to spread good practice in areas ranging from flexible working and training to family support.

Last year’s Franchisee of the Year Award went to Abigail Curtis of languages franchise Lingotot. The Award was voted on by 4,500 members of the public.

Abigail, who covers the Teesside area, had been the top-performing Lingotot franchisee every year since 2013. She works with thousands of children and is now a mentor for other Lingotot franchisees.

At the time of the vote she was running her franchise alongside her part-time job as a process engineer at 3M.

Abigail has never taught herself and doesn’t speak Spanish or French so hiring the right tutors was crucial and she had to learn all aspects of running a business, which she says has helped in her job at 3M, particularly with regard to confidence and decision-making skills.
