Just wondering where I can study the English and Maths GCSE for free as I have not got them. I know I need to have these to be able to get a job. I have been a lunch-time supervisor for about five years and also a full-time mum. Can you help me please?
Phone up the Adult Learning Services department of your local County Council and tell them you’re an adult wanting to study Maths and English at GCSE level – which colleges local to you provide these (free) courses? The courses will be free. You may be charged the cost of sitting the examinations; Adult Learning Services will be able to advise on this point and also whether you’d be entitled to have any such fees waived (eg on grounds of not having had the opportunity of taking these exams previously or because your income is low).
You may also like to contact the National Careers Service (on 0800 900 100) to discuss your career plans before and after you gain your English and Maths GCSEs.
Good luck!
