WMPeople.co.uk has launched a new bi-weekly podcast on topical issues related to working parents and older workers.
WMPeople.co.uk has launched a bi-weekly podcast, featuring a lively discussion between parents about topical issues.
The first edition featured Mandy Garner, editor of workingmums.co.uk and workingwise.co.uk, and Ben Falk, editor of workingdads.co.uk.
The half-hour podcast is broken down into three sections. In the first edition, the editors discussed childcare, including the implications for reducing rising economic inactivity figures among mums, part-time innovation and alternative ways of working, including the 4-day week, and the menopause.
Ben and Mandy started by discussing how access to childcare impacts working parents and the kind of work they’re able to do as well as how the demand for childcare has changed since the pandemic and during the cost of living crisis.
The part-time work discussion kicked off with recent Cranfield School of Management research on whether flexible furlough had built managers’ confidence in managing part-time staff. It also touched on other ways of working, such as portfolio work, demand for flexible working from older workers and whether flexible working will become more common as more people reach burn out.
Finally, they looked at some of the proposed changes by the Women and Equalities committee that were rejected by the government, including menopause leave and menopause discrimination legislation.
The podcast was edited by Honey Wyatt Hosted on Acast.
