Employers including John Lewis Partnership, Accenture and HSBC have signed up workingmums.co.uk new Top Employers’ Charter to show their commitment to flexible working and work life balance.
The Charter is a statement of organisations’ commitment to fully embracing the business case for flexible working and enabling parents to progress and enhance their careers whilst managing the challenges of family life.
By signing up to the workingmums.co.uk Top Employers Charter employers are making a public statement that they are committed to building a diverse and agile workforce and are being externally recognised for that commitment.
Extensive research shows the benefits of being a family friendly and flexible employer in terms of both recruiting and retaining a wider pool of talent and improving staff engagement. Flexible working has been shown to offer a wide range of advantages, from boosting productivity rates and reducing absence rates to improving staff morale. It also means that organisations are able to offer the kind of flexible service to customers and clients which is increasingly expected in a 24/7 global working culture.
Already several organisations have signed up to the Charter. They are: Accenture, Barclays, CA Technologies, COOK Trading Ltd, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Everything Everywhere, HSBC, Hobbs, John Lewis Partnership, M&G Investments, Network Rail, Orange, Prudential, Santander, Surrey County Council and T-Mobile.
John Lewis Partnership was named Workingmums.co.uk Overall Top Employer at the 2011 Workingmums Top Employer Awards. For more information on this year’s awards, which close at the end of July, click here.
