Workingmums.co.uk is launching its annual survey to find out what mums think about their working lives.

The survey is sponsored by McDonald's and the questions will range from what kind of hours and ways of working mums favour most to whether childcare costs deter them from returning to work and what financial support, if any, they currently access to their experience of trying to find new flexible roles and returning from career breaks. It will also cover likely take-up of shared parental leave, whether they have considered setting up a business or undertaken retraining and whether their partners, if they have one, works flexibly.

This year, the survey also includes questions on unconscious bias in the workplace, zero hours contracts, extended school hours, homeworking and jobs shares.

Survey respondents will be asked if they feel they have to prove themselves more than men in the workplace. If they are on zero contract hours or a contract where their hours are not guaranteed they will be asked what their views are on these and they will also be asked about their views on childcare support plus proposals to cut school holidays and extend school hours.

The survey will also contain questions about the whole range of flexible options available, including job shares and homeworking to ascertain how much interest there is in the different types of flexible working.

The results of the survey will be published in early September.
