Promoted, but not given a pay rise

Restructuring in my organisation meant a promotion whilst I was pregnant. However, I have not been given a pay rise. I was initially told this will be looked at, at a specific date, but there are now indications my pay will not be reviewed before I go on maternity leave or possibly even when I return. I have tried to make it clear the new responsibilities I have had to take on and that I only agreed to the position due to the understanding that my pay would be reviewed before I left for maternity. Is there anything I can do?

Pay Day

Did you receive a new contract/ amendment to terms and conditions and was the pay stated in either of these? Without new amounts being stated in your contract it might be difficult to have a case. The worse case scenario is that you can put in a grievance.
You say that there was a restructuring. Were you offered this role as an alternative to redundancy? If so, you may have a case to reject the role, but I would say then you would have to go through a redundancy process if there isn’t any alternative role. You could claim that the role isn’t suitable during the trial period due to no pay increase.
I would raise the issue with HR and ask what would happen if you refused the role. Is your old role still there? It does seem unfair to backtrack now, but it depends on what is in your contract.
