Working mums profile: Clare Holley

Clare Holley [pictured second from left] is a Consumer Relations Manager for  Elizabeth Arden (UK) Ltd based in the West End of London and a mother of three. She got her job through WorkingMums. Here she tells what it’s like.

What is your job? Consumer Relations Manager for  Elizabeth Arden (UK) Ltd based in the West End of London
How many children do you have and what are their ages? I have three children. Grace is 13, Alexander 11 and Anna 9.
How much time did you take off for maternity/paternity leave? I freelanced on and off for 10 years.
Did you keep in touch with your job during maternity leave? Yes
What kind of childcare do you have and are you happy with it? I have a mother’s help one afternoon a week and my parents help one afternoon.
If you have children at school, how do you cover the holidays? Parents, family and friends, plus I take some time off.
What has been your worst moment as a working parent? Nothing that terrible – the usual being late for school appointments, or being late for work after dropping them off.  I hate missing their sports matches!
And your best? Independence, freedom, getting dressed up for work, earning….
Do you work flexibly?  I can do, but I try to keep to certain days.
What is your typical working day? In at 9am, answer lots of calls and letters, attend meetings with PR & marketing departments, send out product to customers, draft documents for various processes to follow, log customer info on database, attend brainstorms, write content for a newletter, leave at 5pm.
How many hours a week do you work? 24.
What do you feel, if anything, needs to change to improve your work/family life
balance? A bit more help at home would be great.
